Colin Yuan
Los Angeles, California
My name is Colin Yuan, I’m a freshman in high school living in Los Angeles, California. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved to read. I spend most of my time reading all kinds of articles, poems, and stories; my favorite genres are fiction and autobiography. Other than reading, I love photography. Photography is a passion of mine; it’s a way for me to express myself and be super creative. My photographs have been used by my school’s publications in articles and cover pages, and I’ve also received a Gold Medal from Scholastic Art Awards. In addition, I’ve recently just started learning to program at my school. In my free time, I like to design all kinds of applications and games.
What does Actions in Spotlight mean to you, and why is it important for you to promote the sustainable development goals?
For me, Actions in Spotlight is a platform for us young people to bring awareness of the UN sustainable development goals to others, in the form of literature. Before Actions in Spotlight, I was not aware of these goals and the important issues out there in the world that people have to face. I want to promote UN’s sustainable development goals to educate others about the issues people around the world are facing and tell their stories.
3. What do you enjoy most about your work in Actions in Spotlight, and why? What were the challenges and how did you overcome that?
As the graphic and web designer, I gather all of the articles written by our editors and publish them onto our website for everyone in the world to see. I enjoy reading their works and learning about each of the UN sustainable development goals, it educates me about these problems exist and how we can resolve them together through UN’s implementations.
What are your goals for the future? How do you think Actions in Spotlight plays into these goals?
My goal for the future is to further raise awareness of current issues occurring in our society. Actions in Spotlight plays into these goals because it gives me a platform to share my voice with the world.
